ok, so with all my bad tv watching lately, i've started to catch up on the shows i missed during the 08-09 season. i thought, what better show than 24 to watch back-to-back. I'm on hour 10, and I've come to some unnerving conclusions/deductions:
- this season was written by amateurs! fanboys, rookies.
- if the "real-time" factor wasn't believeable before, it's way worse now, how can they call for an ambulance at 3:59:55pm and have it already there, inside a basement, and medics doing CPR on the 'first-gentleman' at 4:00:15pm ??? huh??? I know it's a different episode, but we're not stupid!
- it's way too predictable! you knew the first-gentleman would get in trouble, that his bodyguard was shady, that Billy Walsh was the mole inside the FBI (if you know 'Entourage' you get it), that the bad guy was only a minion of some other bigger bad guy, and you just know that the president's senior advisor guy is in on it the whole time!
that and FBI chick is having way too many emotional turnpoints in her life in just a matter of hours! hahaha...
yea, imma continue watching it, it's good escapism, but it's defenitely not good.
yea, entourage is back, and after watching the premiere and reading some reviews online, yup, i'm not the only one that's disappointed... but i think i'm more outraged and befuddled than anything else...
ummm..... Vince is promoting a movie on the Tonight Show.... with freaking Jay Leno???!?!?!??!! and saying how he'll save a racy joke "for Conan" (i.e. the later hour)???!?!?!?!?! dudes.... umm.... Conan's Late Night has been off the air since February, and he's already been on the Tonight Show for over a month now... couldn't they just reshoot that part a month ago? or at the very least plan ahead!
then there's other outdated crap... Ari's super excited that they signed the creator of "My Name is Earl" shouting "we've got 'My Name is Earl'"!??? newsflash.... that show's been CANCELLED!!!! geez, people... that could've easily been dubbed in with another show's name or reshot in like an hour's time!
man, oh, man... it looks like my hopes are still only on True Blood for this summer. good for it, though it's now carrying a huge load on its shoulders. sad for me.
I had a feeling this season of big brother wouldn't be that great, and it would be the start of it's demise in my summer tv schedule.
last night season 11 started with their new twist in having them compete as "cliques" from high school, as if life isn't too highschoolish enough! the 4 groups were obvious (though who thought of calling them "athletes" and "offbeats" instead of the obvious "jocks" and "castoffs"????). but the biggest twist was that whoever wins HoH, their whole clique is safe from eviction, and also that the team that won the first challenge got an extra competitor in the form of a former player coming back to the show.
lo-and-behold.... the one i least wanted to come back is the one that's in the game now... if there's one person i loathed last season was body-builder Jesse!!! I don't know if i can stand that guy for another summer... so BB is gonna be on a tight leash, if Jesse survives more than 3 weeks, i'm outta there, unless, of course, the show actually gets good!
spoiler alert: how obvious were Jesse's nominees, an "offbeat" and a "brain" nominated by a JOCK! though i'd be prob. considered a "brain" i hope that brain chick Chima gets voted off.... her "i was popular too!" rant was her ticket to the loser clique, IMHO.
so summer shows have started... True Blood and Weeds are back in business, and they are total opposites. True Blood, great. it's been fun watching this series, I just watched season 1 about a month ago, and at first it was ok, nothing that great, but the story hooked me, then I was in all the way by the end. This season is just as good, if not better than the last, the characters are coming together nicely, the story unfolding, the only part that I don't like is Jason being away with those religious vampire haters, I somehow miss that horny bastard running around Bonton.
Weeds, not so great. This show started going down hill last year, abandoning the core of the story of Nancy being a suburban pot dealer mom. This just doesn't feel like the show i grew to love in the first 3 seasons, and lately it's becoming a mockery of itself, the latest episode features such low level comedy that I just couldn't believe what I was watching. I was laughing at the idea of who the hell wrote this crap, than the actual "jokes".
Summer TV is only gonna get more interesting with the addition of Entourage and Big Brother next week.
To note.... I just saw a video with the new cast of BB and damn... those idiots are not looking good enough for me to devote 3 hrs. a week to their stupidity, who knows, this might me the year i desert this show for good. But like always, I'll give it a shot.
so this is the look.... hmmm... i LIKE!!! i sure hope this looks carries throughout the whole film, especially the queen of heart's big ass head! hahahaha.... (i just think Johnny Depp's look is way too much, we'll have to wait for the acting to judge on that one)
pixar continues to run away with the animation crown. Up is yet another marvelous foray into the 3D animation world, filled with great characters, wonderful sceneries and fantastic animation.
this is what i love about pixar, their devotion to character design and story and character development. it's amazing how you grow to love a giant bird without it uttering a word! this film is funny, witty, exciting, and a great film to start off pixar's full-on 3D experience.
i do have to say, my favorites are still ratatouille, finding nemo and the incredibles, but along with monster's inc. and wall-e, this one comes a close 4th in my pixar scale of awesomeness.
minor spoiler alert: this one has one of the saddest beginnings of any film, ever!
